ThinkCreative worked with TCC to manage a large scale redesign and consolidation of its websites during 2006, integrating nearly 5,000 pages of content into a single content management system. ThinkCreative guided the key administrators, faculty, and program managers through the process of establishing the site architecture, functional requirements, and policies for managing the new website. ThinkCreative also served as development lead, managing a third party design firm.

The result is a new site that makes significant strides for TCC regarding consistency, usability, accessibility, standards compliance, and visual design. The templates use fluid width design elements, allowing the 92% of TCC's users who have a 1024x768 or higher screen resolution to to see more content on the screen if they wish.

Florida Department of Management Services

At the start of this project in 2002, the Department of Management Services for the State of Florida had a series of web sites that had fallen out of active management, and staff turnover left DMS managers unable to make changes to the sites. Combined with the various interface problems, broken links, and compliance concerns, it was ready for a comprehensive solution.

Four years later, the site has grown to 15,000 pages, and has absorbed the content of many new divisions and easily allowed for structural changes within the agency. In addition, the site separates design and content, allowing for the relatively easy redesign of the much larger site in 2006.

Florida Commerce Credit Union

Styled FloridaCommerce.org website home page screenshot

The Florida Commerce Credit Union website was transitioned from a custom-built content management system in 2005, with a significant upgrade to bring additional functionality into the system including:

* online newsletter
* home page account login
* account rates manager
* employee intranet

By integrating all of this functionality into one system, with a single log in and management interface, information management was dramatically simplified for the credit union staff.

What should I be looking for?

Every one of these sites is maintained by the client through their content management interface.

We built the original templates, and created the content management structure so that their marketing or communications staff can keep the site up to date without any additional assistance.

How can content management work for me?

A Content Management System (CMS) allows you (the communications or marketing director) to keep your organization's website current without:

  • waiting on your webmaster to do it for you
  • paying a consultant or web designer to do it for you each time
  • worrying about what color the headline is supposed to be or how to resize that image
  • learning html, ftp, or any other type of code
